Score 87-89/100 · Drink 2020-2028, Neal Martin, Jan 2019

The 2017 Volnay Les Brouillards 1er Cru offers lifted, tertiary red berry fruit that develops a subtle mintiness with time. The palate is well balanced, though not complex, and quite blocky at the moment, although there is decent weight on the finish.

The 2017 Volnay 1er Cru Les Brouillards is another cuvée where the inherent suppleness of the vintage has tempered what can be a somewhat tannic site. Notes of smoky wild berries, spices and rose petals introduce a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and ample wine with good depth at the core and a long, fine-grained finish.
