Score 97/100 · Drink 2030-2060, Anne Krebiehl MW, Vinous, Mar 2026

The 2023 Pinot Noir Hengst Grand Cru, from the rich clays and marls of this limestone site, brims with the most aromatic, tart Morello cherry. The fruit is radiant, fresh, unforced and light-footed yet utterly concentrated with wonderfully tender Morello cherry skins that are delicate and full of flavor. There is vigor and beautiful energy that drives brightness, along with a weightless density and firmness that is tone and muscle, like a ballet dancer. The quality of the tannins becomes perfectly apparent on the finish. It’s like they themselves hold the aroma. (Bone-dry)
