Score 84/100 · Drink 2019-2022, Neal Martin, Jun 2019

The 2015 Meursault La Barre has a rather plain, toffee-tinged bouquet that suggests this will never be a long-term prospect. The palate is balanced with a pleasant fatness, touches of blackcurrant and orange pith, yet lacking some definition and it is a little flabby on the finish. Tasted at Flint Wines' Value Burgundy tasting.

Quite rich and concentrated on the nose from this young man who is rehabilitating the family domaine. Could do with a little more finesse. (JR)

The 2015 Meursault En la Barre has a light apple blossom and concrete scented bouquet, almost Puligny-like and needing to demonstrate a little more vigor. The palate is simple, balanced and primal with grapefruit and melon notes, a touch of spice towards the finish, however it is missing tension overall and leaves you wanting more.

Edgy, smoky nose with quite a rich mid palate and a bit too chewy on the end for comfort. A little heavy-handed. (JR)
