The 2017 Preuillac is a very pretty and expressive wine with lovely aromatic savoriness and tons of sheer nuance, especially within its peer group. Dried herbs, flowers, mint, spice and dark cherry fruit meld together in this attractive, mid-weight Médoc Cru Bourgeois. The 2017 is impeccable in its balance. Drink it over the next decade.

Medium to deep garnet-purple color, the 2017 Preuillac is a blend of 60% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot aged for 14 months in French oak barrels, 40% new. It leaps from the glass with vibrant black cherries, warm plums and cassis notes plus hints of wild sage and pencil lead. Medium bodied, the palate is fresh and juicy with a good amount of black berry flavors and a touch of chew to the finish.
