Toast, pears, white peaches, and apples are intermingled with spices in the aromatics of the 1999 Batard-Montrachet. Medium to full-bodied and possessing outstanding depth, this wine is rich, robust, and flavorful. Assorted white/yellow fruits, minerals, and spices can be found in this plump wine's character. It would have merited a more exalted review if it had a longer finish. Colin buys one barrel worth of must: Aromas of apple, clove and mint. Fat and powerful, with impressive concentration. But a bit aggressive and lacking subtlety after the Demoiselles. Still, has the material to support its alcohol. Perhaps as promising a young sample of this wine as I have tasted chez Colin.
