Dark, bright-hued violet. Explosive, smoke- and mineral-accented black and blue fruit aromas are complemented by suggestions of vanilla, mocha and incense. Sappy, expansive and appealingly sweet, offering palate-staining boysenberry, cherry-vanilla and cassis flavors that become spicier and livelier with aeration. Combines richness and vivacity with a sure hand and finishes extremely long, with sharp focus and gentle tannic grip.

The 2016 Terreus Paraje de Cueva Baja had a rare combination of power and elegance, concentration and freshness. 2016 has to be one of the finest vintages for this wine, with great balance, freshness, ripe and round tannins with very good grip. This went through malolactic in barrique where the wine matured until it was bottled, always two winters after the harvest. Nothing has changed here, origin, vinification or élevage, so what differences you see are due to the vintage. I tasted it next to the 2017. It has length and very good freshness, with great finesse. 9,800 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2018.
