(from vines in excess of 50 years of age, older than those in the village section of this vineyard): Bright red. Slightly reduced aromas of purple fruits, licorice and menthol . Dense and thick but fine-grained and delineated, with a strong mineral quality perking up the palate. This intensely flavored, youthfully brisk wine coats the tongue and glistens on the long, perfumed aftertaste, which features a touch of bitterness that stimulates the taste buds. A lovely mineral expression.

The 2014 Vosne-Romanée les Rouges du Dessus 1er Cru was showing a little reduction on the nose that made it difficult to read when I tasted it from barrel. The palate contains plenty of sappy fruit, touches of bitter orange peel interlacing the red berry fruit with a generous, slightly honeyed, quite rich finish.
