Score 90/100 · Drink 2020-2030, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jun 2020

Exhibiting aromas of pear, blanched almonds, white flowers and peach, the 2018 Saint-Véran Prélude is medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, with a pillowy core of fruit, lively acids and a saline finish. As I've written before, this cuvée is produced from vines in Prissé and Chasselas, and it's invariably a fine-boned rendition of the appellation no matter the vintage.

Made by Caroline Gon, winemaker for Lafon’s Mâconnais wines, and her husband. Lively lime fruit. Nice limpid appeal and not too rich. Chalky finish. (JR)

The 2018 Saint Véran Prélude has a fragrant nose with jasmine and yellow flower scents emerging with aeration, hints of marzipan lending a touch of exoticism. The palate is well balanced with touches of Satsuma and quince, quite weighty for a Saint Véran although I would like a little more complexity on the finish.
