2020 Kallstadter Saumagen Riesling Spatlese Trocken

The 2020 Riesling Kallstadter Saumagen Spätlese trocken shows the slightest chamomile lift of evolution before easing into a limestone chalkiness on the nose. The palate is a vision of the smoothest, balanced, bone-dry and serene flow. Clearly, 2020 was more suited to Spätlese than Kabinett, as this comes with such a natural, effortless balance. There's clarity, hints of peach, supple freshness and a light body. Understatement in a glass. (Bone-dry)

The 020 Kallstadter Saumagen Riesling Spätlese trocken opens intensely aromatic but pure and fresh on the flinty, slightly reductive nose. Lush and round on the palate, this is a pure, saline, refined, stimulating, mouthwatering and vivacious Saumagen Spätlese with fine mineral acidity and good grip on the long, intense, very elegant and uplifted finish. This is an excellent 2020. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in August 2022.
