The 2021 Riesling Kallstadter Saumagen Auslese trocken already shimmers with riper fruit on the nose, with juicy, yellow pear and Mirabelle flesh and skin. The palate is beautifully clean-cut, without a touch of fat. This is serene with ripe and rounded aromas that are supple, fresh and countered by bright, lemony acidity with something of dried citrus peel. There is less of a yeasty impression here, just suppleness with a bone-dry, elegant, clean, understated, earthy limestone finish. (Bone-dry)

The 2021 Kallstadter Saumagen Riesling Auslese trocken is super clear but intense and elegant on the deep and chalky nose that pairs its ripe and concentrated but discreet and rather coolish fruit with flinty aromas. Silky, elegant and lush on the palate, this is a highly refined yet substantial, fruit-intense, dense, rich and powerful yet finessed Riesling with a sustainable saline and phenolic structure. Remarkably powerful for this vintage. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in August 2022.
