Score 91-93/100 · Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Dec 2023

The 2022 Micho is a barrel sample of 54% Merlot and 46% Cabernet Sauvignon maturing in 100% new French oak for 21 months. It is scented of dried plums, black cherry jam, steak sauce and graphite, showing some of the heat of the vintage. The palate is full-bodied with abundant, gently chewy tannins and just enough freshness to highlight pretty floral perfume on the finish.

The 2022 Micho is impossible to ignore, opening with an array of crushed blackberries, cloves, a dusting of cinnamon and cocoa. Cool-toned and pliant, it mixes tart currants with a hint of spiced orange over a core of zesty acidity. Edgy tannins carry through the dramatically long, gently structured finale as black tea-like tannins persist and nuances of cedar and mocha fade.
