Score 91/100 · Drink 2008-2016, Pierre Rovani, Apr 2006

The 2003 Uriah, a blend of 77% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot, offers a nose of waxy black fruits and cream. A full-bodied, dense, thick behemoth, this powerful, chunky effort is crammed with blackberries, brambleberries, and cassis as well as copious quantities of exquisitely ripened tannin. Projected maturity: 2008-2016. Tel. (800) 764-5504; www.springvalleyvineyard.com

(15% alcohol) Medium ruby-red. Perfumed, sappy aromas of maraschino cherry and sexy oak. A superripe, lush fruit bomb, with black cherry flavor of noteworthy intensity and purity. Creamy-sweet without being porty. A bit inelegant on the finish, which features broad, dusty, palate-coating tannins.
