Score 91/100 · Drink 2019-2031, Jeb Dunnuck, Jan 2019

Moving to the two 2014s, the 2014 Vicarious Red Wine is 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Syrah, 15% Merlot, and the rest Petite Sirah and Zinfandel. It’s another silky, seamless wine from this team and has a pretty bouquet of crème de cassis, dried flowers, violets, and graphite, with some loamy soil notes emerging with time in the glass. It’s medium to full-bodied, has the charming, elegant style of the vintage, moderate tannins, and a great finish. As with the other Vicarious releases, it should have 10-12 years of overall longevity.

The 2014 Proprietary Red Vicarious is a blend of 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Syrah, 15% Merlot, 15% Petite Sirah and 12% Zinfandel from Napa, Dry Creek and Santa Lucia Highlands. It's aged for 22 months in 65% new French oak. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it has quite a spicy crème de cassis and baked plums-scented nose with tons of exotic spices and black pepper notes plus a waft of florals. The palate is full-bodied, rich, spicy, earthy and seductive with tons of layers and great length. 390 cases produced.
