The 2021 Puligny-Montrachet Clos du Cailleret 1er Cru feels a little musty on the nose. At first, I thought this might be oxidation but it just feels a bit grubby. The palate has quite shrill acidity, very lemony in style but missing some amplitude. Curiously bereft of Caillerets typicité, this is a bit anonymous and seems far removed from the barrel sample that I tasted. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Puligny-Montrachet Clos du Cailleret 1er Cru has more mineralité and complexity than the Folatières. Yellow plum, orchard fruit with touches of apricot blossom are all very seductive. The palate is very well balanced with fine acidity, taut and fresh with Clementine, Williams pear and a touch of sea salt on the finish. Excellent.
Matured in a 350-liter barrel and a glass wine globe, the 2021 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos du Cailleret offers up notes of orange and lime zest mingled with white flowers and nutmeg. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's giving and open-knit, with a moderately persistent finish.
