The 2021 Syrah comes from four different parcels, each handled differently in terms of whole bunch and fermentation vessel. It has a lovely nose with brambly red fruit, wilted rose petal and hints of brown spice, well defined and focused. The palate has quite a lively, tensile opening with noticeable acidity. Slightly powdery in texture, with white pepper lingering on the aftertaste, this is perfect to drink now. Superb.

The 2021 Syrah, with 13.5% alcohol and biodynamic origins, presents an ashy and firm character underscored by sumptuous expressive notes of ripe red fruits. It reveals complexity with spicy undertones, savory elements and a firm tannic edge. This wine benefits from time in the bottle to settle, culminating in a finish characterized by its tannic structure and mineral-driven spiciness. It fermented with 30% crushed whole bunch and aged for 12 months in a combination of foudre and seasoned French oak, further enhancing its depth and complexity. A total of 23,200 bottles were produced.

The 2021 Syrah includes 30% whole bunches, fermented in stainless steel and concrete tanks. It’s a blend of all the Syrah vineyards on the estate, including the oldest vines. A light extraction wets the cap to bring air into the fermentation. It matured in old oak barrels of various sizes (plus foudres ) for 12 months. It has a beguiling bouquet with brambly black fruit, iodine and a discrete touch of wild mint and rosemary. The palate is well-balanced with a classic, "cool" personality. It builds gently in the mouth with a soupçon of salted licorice towards the finish. You'd be hard-pressed to distinguish this from a Northern Rhône. Wonderful.
