I loved the 2017 Pinot Noir Hirsch Vineyard, the gem in the lineup. Ethereal notes of wild strawberries, kirsch, white flowers, and spice all flow to a medium-bodied, elegant, seamless effort that carries terrific intensity and depth yet stays weightless and vibrant. This is California Pinot Noir at its most perfumed, complex, and elegant. It’s already impossible to resist, but my money is on it evolving gracefully for at least 10-12 years.

The 2017 Pinot Noir Hirsch Vineyard is gentle and understated, but my impression is that it is also holding back a bit of its potential. Sweet red cherry, plum, blood orange, mint and dried flowers flesh out over time. I would give the Hirsch at least another year or two in bottle, as it really needs time to come together.
