From a site in St. Helena, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Chabot Vineyard is mint and eucalyptus-laced, offering a core of red and black currants, plums, tobacco, and cedarwood-like aromas and flavors. More medium-bodied on the palate, it has solid tannins, a straighter, more elegant texture, and a great finish. It's a unique wine in the lineup and offers lots of character. Give it a few years.

My co-favorite of this year's crop of single-vineyard Cabernets is the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Chabot Vineyard, from a warm, obsidian-rich site on Glass Mountain. It boasts classic scents of crushed stone, pencil shavings and ripe cassis on the nose, followed by a full-bodied palate that's a paragon of balance, with rich, velvety tannins and a long, mouthwatering finish.
