Lovely aromas of blackberry and redcurrant jelly with some smoke and just a hint of bitter chocolate. Ripe and concentrated with a very appealing interplay of creamy richness and moderately dry tannins that build nicely at the finish. Easy to drink right now, but should hold for many years.

From the same fruit source as the early vintages of the Private Reserve, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Chabot Vineyard comes from an estate vineyard planted in the volcanic soils outside of St. Helena. Deep purple-colored with tons of black (and some red) fruits, violets, and spice, it has fabulous purity of fruit, full body, silky tannins, and the freshness and, again, purity, that makes this vintage so compelling. There are 479 cases produced and it’s going to benefit from short-term cellaring.

Beringer's 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Chabot Vineyard is absolutely delicious, with soft curves and plenty of generous, plummy fruit. Iron, red cherry, menthol, licorice and white pepper all run through this super-expressive Cabernet. Deceptive in its mid-weight structure, the 2016 has a lot to offer. I would cellar it for a few more years. All things considered, the Chabot is pretty soft and accessible in 2016.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Chabot Vineyard is made of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 21 months in 36% new French oak. Deep garnet-purple colored, it reveals a beautiful floral nose of roses, lavender and lilacs with a core of kirsch, blackcurrant pastilles, black cherries and warm plums with wafts of cigar box and tilled soil. Full, concentrated and featuring loads of red and black fruit layers, it has a very firm backbone of ripe, grainy tannins and a very long, perfumed finish. 479 cases produced.
