Score 91/100 · Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2018

Bright ruby-red. More pungent and powerful on the nose than the regular Oakville Cabernet, with a strong pyrazine element of peppery herbs. Then tighter and more savory than the basic release, showing more extract and chewy concentration but less personality today. This is a distinctly more peppery, structured wine than the basic Oakville bottling but its inner-mouth energy and rising length suggest that the best is still ahead. The tannins spread out to saturate the palate. (ST) 91+

The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a very pretty, mid-weight wine. Eucalyptus, mint, rose petal and bright red berry are pushed forward in an attractive, mid-weight Cabernet Sauvignon built on class. The tannins are still a bit sinewy, so a few more years in bottle will only be beneficial. Today, it is the wine’s brightness and freshness that are most impressive. This is a very pretty, understated Cabernet Sauvignon that will appeal most to classically leaning palates. (AG)

This is very classy with mineral, black currant and spice character. Shows chili and Thai basil too. Full body, firm tannins and a bright and persistent finish. Extremely long and elegant. Best ever from here in years?
