Dark brownish crimson. Some very mellow notes on the nose – very ripe fruit: almost overripe. Not really very fresh flavoured and then a hit of surely added acid on the finish. Uncomfortably tarry and drying on the finish. A hole in the middle where the fruit should be... Blind guess: valley. Revealed location: mountain. (JR)

The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain reveals some of the same raspberry and blueberry notes, but they are less intense. It comes across like an impressive, Margaux-styled wine displaying a floral character, elegance rather than power, and a long, textured finish. Drink it over the next 12-15+ years. This Spring Mountain winery has fashioned their finest wines since the early nineties. Tel. (707) 963-7075; Fax (707) 963-3724
