Ghost Block's 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate incorporates some Yountville fruit in the blend, along with tiny proportions of Malbec (3%) and Petit Verdot (1%). Initial nosings reveal black cherries and cassis, an attractive combination of ripe, pure fruit nicely framed by 60% new French oak. It's medium to full-bodied, plush, soft and elegant, easy to drink yet with enough structure to pair well with steak off the grill. For less than $100, it's a solid value too.

Full bottle 1,619 g. See this tasting note for background to this certified organic producer. 96% Cabernet Sauvignon 3% Malbec, 1% Petit Verdot. Aged for 24 months in 60% new French oak. 4,500 cases produced. Very luscious and flattering with real energy here. Quite a success! Splits the difference between OTT and determinedly dry. Does this prove organic is the way? (JR)
