Lastly, the 2017 Pinot Noir Manchester Ridge Vineyard is another winner. (There are certainly no dogs in this lineup from winemaker Juhasz.) Coming from a mix of clones 115 and 777, aged in 60% new oak, from a vineyard in Mendocino, this medium-bodied, ruby-hued 2017 offers complex blackberry and black raspberry fruits intermixed with lots of violets and floral notes. It’s seamless on the palate, with terrific balance and a great, great finish. I love it today yet see no reason it won’t evolve gracefully for upwards of a decade.

The 2017 Pinot Noir Manchester Ridge Vineyard comes from Dijon 115 and 777 clones. It was made using 10% saignée and native yeasts and aged for 15 months in about 60% new French oak. Pale to medium ruby-purple colored, it leaps from the glass with gorgeous black and red cherries, mulberries and cinnamon stick scents followed by nuances of violets, dark chocolate and underbrush. Medium-bodied, the palate is wonderfully elegant and well-poised with effortlessly fragrant red fruit and a long, quietly intense finish. 125 cases produced.
