The 2009 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts is super-finessed from the very first taste. Freshly cut flowers, roses, raspberries and cinnamon are all woven together beautifully in this layered, impeccably refined Vosne. The finish is all class and elegance. Perrot-Minot used 25% whole clusters on the Beaux Monts.

The wines are rich and powerful in the Perrot-Minot style, yet also shine with tons of energy. New oak was 20% for the village level wines, 30% for the premier crus and 30-50% for the grand crus, topping out at 50% for the Chambertin. Importer: Martine’s Wines. Novato, CA; tel. (415) 883-040

Good ruby-red. High-pitched aromas of blackberry, violet, espresso and bitter chocolate. Extremely rich, dense and seamless, with excellent freshness of fruit for the vintage but a bit aggressive today. Finishes with a slightly reductive quality, and a strong element of minerality that gives it punch. A distinctly powerful wine that will need extended aging to become more civilized.

Bright red-ruby. Crushed cassis, bitter chocolate and violet on the primary nose. Bright on entry, then thick and velvety in the middle, with penetrating dark fruit flavors of noteworthy purity. Finishes minerally, precise and long, with a note of framboise and substantial tannins supported by the wine's mid-palate stuffing. Harmonious acidity gives this pristine wine excellent cut.
