Score 89/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2006

Good ruby-red. Currant, mocha, espresso and chocolate on the nose; more deeply pitched than the merlot. Then sweet, full and dense, with ripe flavors of redcurrant, mocha and tobacco. Finishes with substantial but nicely buffered tannins and a slightly roasted quality.

Score 90/100 · Drink 2005-2017, Robert Parker, Dec 2005

The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa’s dark ruby/purple color is followed by classic aromas of creme de cassis, licorice, smoke, and camphor. Medium to full-bodied and elegant, with sweet tannin, pure cassis fruit, admirable structure as well as depth, but no hard edges, it should drink well for 10-12 years. I suppose it will always be difficult to comprehend that this winery is no longer being run by Robert Mondavi and his sons, Tim and Michael. However, their legacy of quality and their contribution to the appreciation of fine wine in the United States is irrefutable. These offerings, made by Tim Mondavi and his staff, are very impressive.
