Expressive and complex, the 2018 Saggi is made from a blend of 58% Sangiovese, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Syrah. The nose offers a broad and youthful expression with dusty dark red fruits with a firm yet inky generosity and oak essence. Full-bodied, the wine is explosive on the palate with firm tannins that linger through the dense, chewy finish with flint elements and bright red cherry skin flavors. Enjoy this food-friendly wine for another decade or more.

Aromas of plum, orange peel and spices. It’s full-bodied with firm, silky tannins. Structured and focused with a creamy texture. Iron and stones on the finish. A blend of sangiovese, cabernet sauvignon and syrah. Try in 2023.

There are only a few Sangiovese-dominated wines from Washington, but they tend to be rock-solid. The 2018 Saggi Red Wine is a great example, revealing a ruby/semi-translucent color as well as notes of ripe cherries, leafy herbs, sandalwood, and dried flowers. Medium to full-bodied, it has plenty of richness, velvety tannins, and outstanding length. It opens up nicely with time in the glass and should have 10-12 years of longevity.
