Dievole (based in Chianti Classico) owns Podere Brizio. The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino opens to a medium garnet appearance with dark ruby highlights. The nose is beautifully balanced and elegant, with delicate berry nuances that are successfully contrasted against spice, tar and licorice. It closes with a polished feel and lingering tones of dried mint and licorice. Overall, the wine is lightweight and streamlined, but it also delivers impressive elegance.

Lustrous mid ruby. Spice and what looks like a bit of oak on the nose and a touch of dried fruit. Quite embryonic fruit with vibrant acidity. Quite light, and not really Brunello material but refreshing, nevertheless. (WS) (JR)
