From a vineyard that I first tasted from Les Behrens’s wines, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Moulds Family Vineyard is from a hillside terroir on the western slopes of Oak Knoll. It has produced a beautifully complex, elegant style of wine with a dense ruby/purple color, notes of unsmoked cigar tobacco, blackcurrants, earth, spice and a long finish. This is a beauty with velvety tannins. It can be drunk now or cellared for 12-15+ years.

Dakota Shy's 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Moulds Vineyard, from an increasingly well-known site in the Oak Knoll District, is striking. Lavender, cloves, menthol, spices and new leather are all pushed forward. The flavors are dark and powerful in this voluptuous Cabernet Sauvignon. Here too, the soft contours make the 2013 quite approachable. For a wine of its size, the 2013 possesses remarkable freshness and finesse. There is so much to like here.
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Moulds Family Vineyard is a potent, bombastic wine. Blackberry jam, bittersweet chocolate, spice, new leather, clove and lavender all race across the palate. This full-throttle wine has a ton of character.
