Still relatively youthful, the 2005 Château Grand Corbin-Despagne has beautiful notes of gamey red and black fruits, truffly earth, chocolate, and underbrush, and it’s a wine that blossoms with time in the glass. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated, with plenty of mid-palate depth as well as ripe, fine tannins, it’s well worth seeking out and is beautifully done. I love it today yet see no reason it shouldn’t evolve for another decade.

The 2005 Grand Corbin-Despagne is a succulent, juicy Saint-Émilion. Forward and supple, with lovely freshness, the 2005 offers plenty of charm. The seductive, easy-going style is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. Ripe dark cherry, plum, spice, new leather and French oak build into the creamy, layered finish.

Dense and tannic, this inky purple wine possesses huge minerality, loads of black cherry, cassis and blackberry fruit, and a boatload of tannin. Powerful, full-bodied, and almost excruciatingly young, this wine needs another 5-6 years of cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2035.
