The 2008 Pinot Noir Jory Hills Vineyard is a selection of the best barrels from the parcel aged for 12 months in 30% new French oak. It is a solid effort from a great vintage. Aromas of cedar, spice box, lilacs, black cherry, and black raspberry inform the nose of a structured, savory wine in need of greater depth and concentration. It can be approached now but will be better with another 1-2 years of cellaring. Willakenzie Estate believes in giving their Pinot Noirs an extra year of bottle age prior to release so their current vintage is 2008. The winery has added a new young vines cuvee to their portfolio, a Jory Hills Vineyard bottling from a site near Archery Summit’s Arcus Vineyard. Tel. (503) 662-5026; www.willakenzie.com
