The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuées 1er Cru has a gorgeous, seductive, pure bouquet that epitomizes everything there is to love about a premier cru from this appellation. The aromatics... you almost want to smooch with them to a Lionel Richie ballad. The beautifully balanced palate presents filigreed tannin, perfectly pitched acidity and good substance, and hints of graphite surface toward the pixelated finish of this brilliant Chambolle-Musigny from Ghislaine-Barthod. Stunning. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Tasted blind, Barthod's 2015 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées is stunningly good, bursting from the glass with a seductive bouquet of raspberries, cherries, rose petal, violets and strawberries that exemplifies all the charm of Chambolle. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, lavish and textural, with a deep core of juicy fruit that largely conceals its fine tannins, and the finish is long and fragrant.

Medium-dark red. Pure but reticent aromas and flavors of black fruits and licorice, plus higher-pitched hints of herbs and citrus zest. Dense, suave and sweet in the mouth, offering noteworthy finesse of texture. Slightly high-toned in the way of this very ripe vintage but this utterly seamless, plush wine also boasts excellent energy and the mineral-driven extract to buffer its smooth tannins. Mounts slowly on the back end and goes on and on. This wine offers lovely early balance but has the backbone for a slow and graceful evolution in bottle. Here's a perfect example of a wine that has really benefited from the style of the year: it's sumptuous now but will gain in refinement as it absorbs some of its baby fat over the coming years and its inherent minerality emerges.
