1994 Marques de Riscal Reserva

Good dark red with ruby highlights. Rather Nuits St. Georges-like aromas of dark berries, plum and licorice, plus a whiff of sweet butter. Deep, dense and superripe; mineral-edged flavors of cassis and tar. Warm and rich, but quite dry. Kept fresh by a firm spine of acidity. Finishes with palate-coating, slightly dry tannins. Spent 28 months in American oak.
