Score 91+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2005

(52% cabernet franc and 48% merlot) Full red-ruby. Black raspberry, licorice, menthol and nutty oak on the nose. Dense and fat but juicy, with complex hints of minerals, currant leaf, chocolate, flowers and Havana tobacco, lifted by star anise. Complex, vibrant and light on its feet. Finishes with very suave tannins.

Score 90/100 · Drink 2005-2015, Robert Parker, Feb 2005

A Cheval Blanc-look alike, the 2002 Bourriquot (a blend of two-thirds Cabernet Franc and one-third Merlot) exhibits a dense ruby/purple color along with a lavish bouquet of white chocolate, black cherries, mocha, and menthol. The complex aromatics are accompanied by a medium to full-bodied, nicely layered red with no hard edges. The French-like sweet fruit, lovely fragrance, overall symmetry, and refined style suggest consumption over the next decade is warranted. Tel. (707) 261-2000; Fax (707) 261-2043
