Deep medium red. More exotic on the nose than the Chambertin: raspberry, strawberry, dried rose, mocha and brown spices. Wonderfully sweet, layered and lush, offering terrific sappy richness with restraint. Broader and more pliant than the Chambertin-perhaps less precise today-but this, too, has fruit of steel. Very full without being the least bit heavy. Finishes with lovely floral lift, an edge of acidity and lingering sweetness. A more than worthy warm-up for the extraordinary 2005 in the making.

(this is fruit from Domaine Damoy, but Perrot-Minot selects the harvest date and does the picking) Full ruby-red. Multidimensional nose offers currant, brown spices, dried flowers, truffle, earth and minerals. Sweet, suave and utterly silky, with flavors of iron, mocha and brown spices. A bit less expressive today than the Chambertin. Finishes with outstanding persistence. Perrot-Minot says this is more a wine of "longitude" while the Chambertin has more volume.
