Score 92/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2008

Deep yellow. Rich, brooding, smoky bouquet of poached pear, orange, iodine and toasty lees. Deep and chewy on the palate, offering fleshy citrus and melon flavors and picking up bitter peach pit and orange zest with air. An impressively complex chardonnay that delivers a deft balance of power and energy, and finishes dry, firm and very long.

The 2005 Chardonnay Heintz Vineyard is another compelling example from this superb site. Tropical fruit, honeysuckle, and orange marmalade scents jump from the glass of this light golden-colored Chardonnay. Medium to full-bodied, rich, layered, and impressive, it should be enjoyed over the next 2-3 years. Tel. (707) 433-6425; Fax (707) 433-6546
