From a mix of Swiss and German clones planted only 10 years ago, the Ingelheim 2020 Pares Spätburgunder offers a generous, deep, sweet, very elegant, concentrated yet fine and fresh bouquet of ripe dark, tart fruits and spicy phenols as well as some licorice nuances. Silky, fresh and vital on the palate, this is a crystalline, juicy/fleshy and well-concentrated Pinot with remarkably fine tannins and stimulating salinity on the elegant and Burgundian finish. Lush but refined and balanced, it was aged in 20% new pièces for 18 months from a range of cooperages. This is a gorgeous wine, and the best is yet to come, when the vines will have reached 20-30 years of age. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in July 2023.
