This is a very elegant vintage for the 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Rose Delle Casasse, which boasts aromas of ripe raspberries, wild rosemary, and fresh lavender. The palate reveals ripe tannins and a long, long finish, with pure intensity in its ripe fruit, great structure, and lovely freshness. It’s not going to slow down anytime soon. Drink it over the next 15 years. Natale and Francesca Simonetta lead their small family estate in Barbaresco, producing approximately 10,000 bottles per year. Their bottling of Rose delle Casasse, which is uniquely and exclusively made from the Rose clone of Nebbiolo and sourced from a single vineyard in Neive, is always made as a Riserva.

The 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Rose delle Casasse is a rich, heady wine that is going to need a number of years to come into its own. Time in the glass releases gorgeous aromatics to play off a core of dark red/purplish fruit, spice and licorice notes. There's tons of depth and character, but this is an uncharacteristically reticent 2017. Give this exotic beauty time. The aromatics alone are so inviting.
