Ruby-red. Brooding aromas of cherry compote, cola, vanillin oak and dark chocolate; this would fit right into a syrah tasting. Weighty dark berry and bitter cherry flavors are complicated by strong smoke and bitter chocolate qualities and firmed by chewy tannins. Very rich wine with powerful dark fruit and espresso qualities on the clinging finish. What this has to do with pinot noir is beyond me but it does make a statement. I'd serve it with game or braised lamb.

Spiced, richer and less fragrant fruit than the Jerusalem. Focused yet harmonious. Pure berry fruit. Lovely firm but scented palate, beautifully balanced and long, just a little bit of heat on the finish. (JH)

The 2006 Pinot Noir Grace Vineyard is medium/dark ruby with spicy cherry and raspberry aromas, complex flavors, and a sense of elegance. This nicely balanced wine has excellent depth, concentration, and length with enough structure to evolve for 3-4 years. Drink it from 2010 to 2020. Domaine Serene has turned out its most successful set of Pinot Noirs in several vintages. www.domaineserene.com
