95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot. Monte Rosso vineyard is one of California’s oldest Cabernet Sauvignon plantings that dates back to 1880, grafted. Average yield 1.5–3 tons/acre, elevation 400 m. Fragrant with minty cassis. Minty and leafy freshness lead the way. Refined texture, even if it is still fairly chewy. Massive dried-cherry depth. Rich and spicy. Lovely in its own, distinctive way. (JH)

After 28 months in a mix of French and American oak, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Rosso Vineyard has emerged offering up aromas reminiscent of cola spice, cassis and a hint of capsicum. It's full-bodied, silky, refined and elegant, turning more red-fruited on the softly dusty finish. This bottling includes some fruit from Cabernet Sauvignon planted in the 1940s, plus 5% Petit Verdot.
