The 2023 Zinfandel Sky Vineyard comes from dry-farmed Zinfandel vines planted at 2,000 feet in elevation in the early 1970s. It has alluring aromas of rhubarb, red and black cherry, wildflowers, graphite and pepper. The full-bodied palate is bursting with concentrated, layered flavors. It’s structured by ripe, rounded tannins and mouthwatering acidity and has a long, perfumed finish. It will be long lived in the cellar.

Coming from 2200 feet at the top of this vineyard on Mount Veeder, the 2023 Zinfandel Sky Vineyard is packed with scrubby sage herbs and has a mountainous wild feel, with notes of fresh red plum, compact dark berries, gravelly earth, and perfume. The palate is full, grippy, and structured, and has a noble, dark, stony feel. It demands some patience but will be worth checking back on in a few years. Drink 2027-2040.

The 2023 Zinfandel Sky Vineyard emerges from a site at 2,000 feet in elevation on Mt. Veeder. Dark-toned fruit, leather, gravel, spice, menthol and incense convey a sense of gravitas. A powerful, incisive wine, the Sky packs a tremendous punch. Shallow soils here yield particularly tough tannins.
