This is Le Macchiole's entry level red. The 2014 Bolgheri Rosso (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah) offers bright fruit and dried cherry in a less formal packaging. There is plenty of spice, which you definitely feel in the mouth, with cinnamon and clove in subtle doses. The mouthfeel offers a touch of lingering sweetness. This wine treads in light footsteps and its easy-come-easy-go approach makes it great for pairing with hearty pasta dishes. Some 111,000 bottles are produced.

The 2014 Bolgheri Rosso is fresh, perfumed and lively in the glass. Sweet floral notes meld into a core of bright fruits in a super-expressive, polished 2014 Bolgheri Rosso that will drink well right out of the gate. Naturally, the 2014 is not as opulent as other recent vintages, but it is quite pretty and expressive. This is a fabulous wine for the vintage.
