Score 94/100 · Drink 2005-2014, Pierre Rovani, Aug 2001

The star of the show is Cristom's 1999 Pinot Noir Marjorie Vineyard. Medium to dark ruby-colored and boasting a floral, candied black cherry, and spice-scented nose, this is an opulent, silky-textured wine. Its sultry yet complex personality exhibits huge amounts of candied fruits, loads of juicy cherries, as well as a myriad of spices whose flavors linger throughout its admirably long and pure finish. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2014. Tel. (503) 375-3068

Full medium-deep red. Strawberry, black plum, raspberry, meat, underbrush and sexy oak on the nose. Big, ripe, lush and chewy; a voluminous pinot with a three-dimensional texture. But fresh and bright, and not at all overly sweet. Hints of leather and spices. Still youthfully unevolved and likely to show more complexity with a couple years of additional aging. Finishes with sweet, solid tannins.
