The 2018 Barolo del Comune di Verduno turned out even better than I expected. Dark and beautifully layered, the 2018 offers up an intriguing mix of dark blue fruits, lavender, spice, dried herbs and flowers. The 2018 has gained a bit of mid-palate depth that works so well in filling out its mid-weight frame. This is such a classy wine.

The Fratelli Alessandria 2018 Barolo del Comune di Verduno shows extreme clarity and focus with pinpoint aromas of cassis, sour cherry, crushed stone and perfumed violets. This is a standout wine that shines bright in a vintage that is not always even when you consider its peers. The wine invigorates the palate with acidity, minerality and fine tannins. This is a terrific, albeit slightly more approachable Barolo. 94+ (ML)
Some pleasant fresh berry and dry-spice character up front, turning more savory, even lightly peppery on the palate. Medium-bodied with firm tannin and a some decent length. Needs a year to even out. Try from 2023.
The 2018 Barolo del Comune di Verduno is aromatic, delicate and super-expressive. Bright red/purplish berry fruit, rose petal, lavender, spice and dried herbs open with a bit of coaxing. The 2018 offers a lovey combination of fruitiness and mid-weight Verduno structure.
