Score 89/100 · Drink 2021-2026, Anthony Mueller, Wine Advocate, May 2021

Named after the winemaker's wife, the 2018 Lindi Carien is a blend of 46% Chenin Blanc, 31% Verdelho, 15% Grenache Blanc and 8% Roussanne. The wine offers up aromas of dusty Meyer lemon, arugula, citrus blossoms and a nutty, leesy character. Medium-bodied, the palate is initially linear with focused acidity and a rising sensation of biscuity and citrus tones. These firm up with a soft phenolic bitterness and a hint of sea spray. The wine finishes with lingering flavors of white spiced tea and peanut shell. Only 3,600 bottles were filled after spending 10 months on the fine lees in 500-liter French oak puncheons. The wine has 13% alcohol.

Made by the Alheit winemaker. Blend of Swartland Chenin with Roussanne, Grenache Blanc and Verdelho. Very intense, quite complex nose. Electric fruit on the palate. Really zings along. Great impact. A relative bargain? GV (JR)
