Robust aromas of black olives, cured meat, cedar, earth and blackberry compote. The palate is full-bodied with firmly framed tannins and balanced acidity leading to a creamy and textured finish. Well balanced with some lovely northern Rhone syrah qualities. Drink or hold.

Harvested before the heat on Labor Day, the 2022 Syrah is a classic Syrah in its gamey, peppery, wild profile. Darker berries, lavender, pepper, bacon fat, and violet notes all give this a La Mouline-like character, and it's full-bodied, has a pure, layered, elegant mouthfeel, and integrated yet present tannins. Drink bottles over the coming decade or so, although I wouldn’t be surprised to see it evolve longer.

The 2022 Syrah is packed with copious dark red fruit, blood orange, menthol and sweet spice. This is a decidedly forward, opulent Syrah from Ovid. Today, it is quite raw and not fully formed. It is the wine in this range that is most marked by the severe heat and drought of the year. Let's see how this comes together.
