Made with organic fruit, the Massimo Rivetti 2018 Barbaresco is a bit thin, with a lean appearance, and it pours to a light ruby color. You'll find spice, tar, crushed stone and balsam herb in this light and fragile expression. Unfortunately, the wine does show much power or length on the finish. On the other hand, it can be considered a nicely polished and finessed Nebbiolo. This was a production of about 15,000 bottles.

Aged for 18 months in large Slavonian oak casks. Very pale ruby. Perfumed yet fresh cherry and wild strawberry with hints of iron. Sappy light red fruit on the palate. Doesn't make a huge impact on the finish, but pretty all the same with clayey tannins on the fragrant, poised finish. The final impression it makes is that the wine is actually quite light. (WS)
