The 2015 Nuits St Georges Les Argillats has a much more fruit-driven, more complex bouquet than the two négoçiant Chambolle-Musigny premier crus that I tasted. The palate has good depth with slightly savory red berry fruit, slightly grainy tannins with satisfying energy throughout. The oak needs to knit together a little more seamlessly on the finish, but that will happen with time. This is very fine.

Bright red-ruby. Reticent, reserved aromas of black cherry, licorice and menthol. Densely packed, sappy and energetic, with good saline minerality framing the liqueur-like dark cherry fruit. This wine stood out for its acidity in the early going, noted Méo, adding that Argillas is often overlooked as it can be rustic when it's young. Quite backward today but finishes with terrific energy.
