The 2018 Corton Grand Cru has a bright Morello, cranberry and wild strawberry scented bouquet that has a spring in its step, despite what feels like a zealous use of oak. The palate is juicy on the entry with blood orange infused red fruit, confit-like, fig and dates emerging towards the (again) oaky finish. You could broach this now, which in itself is a little concerning in terms of longevity, but still enjoyable with a degree of elegance. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

The 2018 Corton Grand Cru comes from the Les Combes climat toward the bottom of the slope. It has a floral bouquet with pressed rose petal aromas flanking the raspberry, strawberry and vanilla aromas. The palate is clean and precise on the entry, displaying good acidity, and quite linear in style, with a strict, tensile finish that is very promising. One to watch once in bottle.
