The 2022 Barbaresco Montestefano is laced with macerated cherry, cinnamon, new leather and mocha. It possesses terrific mid-palate density and overall fleshiness, both signatures of this site. There's good textural presence to wrap it all together. I especially admire how the Montestefano opens in the glass. It's the finest wine I tasted during my most recent visit, and the most likely candidate to improve in bottle.

Barbaresco. Youthful ruby. Complex cherry nose with earthy touches; really opens up in the glass. Supple, mouth-filling and juicy cherry fruit with a layer of firm tannins. Big structure but with plenty of fruit. One for keeps. (WS)
The 2022 Barbaresco Montestefano is superb. A dark, mysterious wine, the 2022 presents an exotic mélange of dark blue/purplish fruit, lavender, mint, spice, licorice, leather and graphite. More than anything else, I am impressed by how much site character is present.
