Score 92-94/100 · Drink 2023-2043, Neal Martin, Jan 2021

The 2019 Echézeaux Grand Cru, the métayage shared with Christophe Roumier since the 2016 vintage, offers a very floral bouquet with wilted rose petals and peony almost occluding the earthy red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm tannins, manifesting a structured and slightly more austere Echézeaux compared to those tasted back in October. There is just a little chewiness towards the finish with pitted black olives lingering on the aftertaste. An intriguing Echézeaux for sure, one that I suspect will age well.
