Score 91/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2005

Good deep, healthy red. Very ripe aromas of plum, smoke, earth and cola. Sweet, lush and broad, with a hint of reduction. The largest-scaled and most pliant of these 2003 pinots, but without the lift or inner-mouth perfume of the Summa. Finishes with dusty but fine-grained tannins, Morey-like suggestions of wild herbs and impressive persistence. Lemon dropped a lot of fruit here following an uneven set but still ended up with a reasonably full crop.

The medium-bodied 2003 Pinot Noir Thieriot Vineyard exhibits aromas of red currants, plums, cherries, earth, forest floor, and flowers. Reminiscent of a good Burgundy premier cru, it should be consumed during its first 5-7 years of life. (Price not yet determined) Tel. (707) 823-9586; Fax (707) 823-9589
